Today I am going to talk about something else, diverting from our everyday programmer's routine problems.
Few days back I received a mail from my friend who wanted to talk to me on hangout. We setup a hangout meeting for the coming weekend so that we'll get a reminder for the same (I know it's lame, but it has been the way of life now :( ).
So after I received the URL for hangout call I tried to open it in my mobile and to my surprise no matter what I tried, the URL always opened in browser & took me to Hangout app page for android. I was frustrated (occupational hazard ;) ). I thought I'll need to get my laptop to just have a call instead of my mobile comfort (yeah, I'm that lazy).
So I was trying to find the solution as to why the URL wasn't opening the hangout app, despite having the latest updated version. My google quest began for the same & alas on some thread I found that sometimes the default options of apps tends to result in such unnecessary scenarios. So I cleared my browser's default on which the URL was opening & YUREKA!. It worked!
So what I needed to do was to go into Settings, then head towards Applications. Into applications find my browser & select it. It presented with some details of app with "Clear Defaults" option. I needed to click it to clear the defaults & that was it.
